Meridian never fabricates data. Each provider below is labelled with its class, licence and refresh cadence — and its live status right now. When a source is down, the platform says so instead of guessing.

Method notes

Severity mapping. Earthquakes: M7+ → ▲ extreme, M6+ → ◆ severe, M5.3+ → ● moderate, otherwise ○ minor. EONET events are mapped by category (storms, floods and volcanoes ◆; fires and drought ●) until per-event intensity data lands with the backend.

Badges. OBSERVED = a measurement that happened. FORECAST = a model estimate with uncertainty. HISTORICAL = archived observations. DEMO/CACHED = sample or stale values, clearly flagged. EDUCATIONAL = illustration for understanding, not measurement.

Failure policy. If a feed is unreachable, its panels say so. Nothing is interpolated, simulated or quietly reused past its freshness window.
